Residential Parking Ordinance

THE PROGRAM

In 1985, the City of Camden initiated the Residential Parking Program to preserve the parking privileges of Camden residents and their visitors during regular business hours. The program has established zones restricting non-metered parking to one hour without a valid permit. Participating residents of each zone receive color coded decal stickers and a temporary visitor permit which must be properly displayed on vehicle (s) to avoid ticketing / towing. Residential Parking Permit Zones are enforced weekdays between the hours of 8am – 8pm. Any vehicle found parked in excess of one hour in any of the restricted areas without a properly displayed valid residential parking permits is subject to a citation and immediate towing.

In many residential areas of Camden, residential permit parking exists to help ensure that on-street parking is not monopolized by adjacent commercial or institutional activities and is available to local residents.

The Camden Parking Authority administers the Residential Permit Parking Program and is responsible for the issuance of permits and enforcement as stipulated by City Ordinance.

Residents and businesses wishing to park a vehicle on the street in Residential Permit Parking Program areas require a permit and a full understanding of the program.
